General

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase please let us know right away. Let's work towards creating the best possible solution. 

It happens very rarely but if an order is incomplete or damaged, we will replace. Please email us within a week of receiving, describe what the issue is, and send pictures showing damaged or incomplete order.

Elderberry Cuttings Guarantee

We want you to succeed at growing elderberry so all cuttings sent out are considered healthy and alive. Given proper care, they will root, leaf out and grow. To avoid common issues, please follow these growing instructions (which were also included with your order).

-> When you receive your cuttings, if there is any issue, let us know within a week

-> For issues that emerge once cuttings are planted, please read: 

  • Cuttings, depending on the variety, take a few weeks to leaf out. Commonly they send green shoots from the lower nodes that are buried in the soil and that can take about 6 weeks
  • After this time, if any cuttings fail to root and leaf out, and you believe the cuttings were defective, notify us by June 15th of that year. To qualify for this timeline you would need to plant by about May 1st
  • Please email hello@elderberrygrove.ca with the following info so we can best support:

1) what is the date of planting (eg March 25th 2026 or last week of March is accurate enough)

2) what varieties & quantities have issue (3 of 10 Kent have not leafed out or 2 of 20 Ranch leaves are drooping/dried up etc)

3) picture(s) showing the cutting and the area it's planted in. If pictures are not available, please describe in detail how you planted them. Are they outside, inside, in a greenhouse, in a pot, in the ground, started in water and for how long (btw don't do this), with heat pad and grow lights?

4) describing anything else you observe helps us support you better


Cutting Replacement

For cuttings that are considered defective, the value of the cuttings will be available to you in the form of a credit and can be used towards future cuttings. This credit amount is not refundable. We'd just ask that you cover the shipping charges, unless you make additional purchase that meets minimum for free shipping. If we still have cuttings in the fridge, we can send those. Otherwise, to re-order, email us in January through April referencing your order and we can create a new order with the credit.

Limits of Guarantee

We cannot guarantee plants that leaf out but die during the first growing season nor can we guarantee overwinter survival due to factors beyond our control. Our goal is to send only high quality stock, but in working with live plants and human fallibility, we realize perfection is not always attained.

We do want you to be satisfied and we'll do our best to help you be successful at growing elderberry.
