Elderberry Shrub | Organic
You definitely know there's apple cider vinegar yet when you're tongue discovers the delectable depth of elderberries, it wants to savor it longer before the big, inevitable swallow.
Always looking for something natural to help with a chronic health condition, I overheard on a morning show about all the usual suspects that you can buy from the shelf at the Pharmacy for sniffles, coughs etc . Most were things I would not take, things that had ingredients I couldn't pronounce. One honourable mention was that "if you can find Elderberry in it's more natural form, it is highly recommended for it's immunity boosting and overall good for you benefits. " Something to that effect. It just so happened that our biweekly Farmer's Market was that week and I remembered what I heard when I saw Elderberry Grove offering samples of their products. I tasted the syrup, and the shrub. The shrub was a flavour winner. I bought some, and in winter when flu and colds are going around I started giving my family their dose in the morning. My husband and I were consistent , but another family member gave it a pass. That fellow ended up in bed for a week with the nasty flu that was going around, although we were all exposed to him and worked in jobs with many employees who also came down with flu, neither my husband nor myself caught a cold or flu that first year. Not the second year, or the third. We also washed our hands as often as possible and all the other things folks do to avoid contagious illness. Sadly I waited to long to stock up last year and EG was sold out. I tried another brand and ugh, the shrub's great taste had spoiled me. This year I have my first batch , and I feel that this year it's more important than ever to do what we can to maintain health. Let's just say I am a BIG fan and highly recommend giving it a try .
